Charlie Rusbridge has verbally committed to one of the best golf colleges in America. Charlie has been offered a place in the Florida State University golf team from 2026. The scholarship is for 4 years and he will have a chance to compete with the very best amateurs in the world to develop his game with the view to turning professional on completion of the scholarship. The facilities at FSU are world class and Charlie earning this opportunity to study and play is the stuff of dreams. The visit lasted for 2 days and he got the chance to tour the whole campus which includes a 65000 seater American football stadium. He would be one of 500 FSU elite sport athletes spread across 15 sports. The golf program is designed to give their players the best environment to develop their games needed to compete at the highest level on the PGA Tour and their record speaks for itself. Players that have attended FSU include, Brooks Koepka, Daniel Berger, John Pak, Vincent Norman to name a few.
FSU have the current Worlds Amateur #1’s in both the mens and women’s game. Charlie got to play with the number#1 WAGR ranked player Luke Clanton on the 2nd day as well as Walker Cup player Jack Bigham and Gray Albright. Charlie showed the mentality needed to play with such high level players which shows he’s got what it takes to thrive at FSU. For now Charlie has got to spend the next 2 years getting the grades he needs to become NCAA eligible to take up this amazing opportunity. Hopefully his journey will inspire the next generation of CGA juniors at our clubs.
